Hahah, I fell in love with Rachel Kudo's Chopin Sonata. ahhh.

Ahhh, that girl from China-HK's arm was so pale. Was she an albino? I felt like her arm could snap in half.

we would love to, if we could...but due to the time differences, I can't catch the whole lot, and i can't possibly sit in front of the pc and watch whole day without doing a thing.
It's good to have these "live" performances, at least we don't have to fly to poland....(though everyone would die to go there)

My favorite part of the competition - and probably the only part I really watched in detail - was Dang Thai Son's Mendelssohn Concerto followed by 24/1.

1st prize... Rafał Blechacz! (Poland!)
2nd- Not awarded
3rd- I think it was shared by the Lim brothers from S. Korea
4th- I think it went to Takashi Yamamoto from Japan
5th- Not awarded
6th- I think it went to Ka Ling Colleen Lee from China-HK

W00t, well It was kind of hard, because I was trying to decipher the polish. So I may be wrong about the placing, but that was the order.

So an american wins the national chopin comp in the usa; polish wins international in poland.. lol I'm cool with that.
I still don't get music competitions, anyway..
(actually, I'm begining to realize that the whole music "industry" is totally ****ed up, and am more than doubtful if I even want to put myself in it... bleh it's all depressing)

I really thought that Blechacz's playing was phenomenal. I think that the fact that he is from Poland most likely only gives him a direct connection with the influences which were more or less probably shared with those of Chopin. Regardless, his articulation, timing and technique are all top-notch.

The right man won; though, there were many talented individuals in the competition as well.

I actually heard Wunder (grand polonaise), I'm amazed he didn't make the finals, at least. Amazing performance.
