A nerdy waltz (now with some sheets)

Postby nerd » 20 Sep 2004, 15:58

Now that the CF composing contest is over I might as well put my piece here. I have no good reason why I chose "nerdywaltz" as filename... Anyway, it was voted 3rd 8)

Yes. It's note even so hard. I'm planning to make the sheets for it in the near future, too (once I learn LilyPond a bit better) :)

Very nice! I like it a lot!

If only I could hear the melody more than the left hand banging loudly, that would be my only complaint.

Also, why is it nerdy? ;)

87 from me, I love it! :)

Maybe when I get the sheets done and you can follow from it you can hear it more clearly. I could of course try to make a better version of it, too.

It's nerdy because a nerd made it ;) I just quicly decided for a filename and happened to call it nerdywaltz.mp3.

Quite good. It's really waltzy, but candidly, there is nothing really special about. It's better than my compositions, but there is nothign that jumps out of the listener.

I agree with PS, the left hand should be a lot softer and less mechanical. You could really make this into a beautiful recording. I really like the composition though.

95 for composition
75 for execution

First, this is a composing forum, so you shouldn't rate 'execution' ;)
Secondly, it's not a recording, but a midi I played and recorded to mp3 (with a soundfont to get a bit better sound)

I've made some sort of sheetmusic for this. It has notes and some articulation marks anly and it's a bit messy at some spots; you have to come up with your own phrasing and dynamics and such if you're going to play it ;)

Sorry nerd, I didn't realise it was a midi recording. I'd like to hear your recording of this piece. 8) Although composing is only half the battle, playing it well is the other half , I hereby change my rating to 95 for a brilliant composition  Thanks for the sheet, it doesn't look easy to play, but I'm sure it would sound wonderful with some expression and interpretation
