Chopin's protegee

Chopin had a protegee (possibly spelt wrong) who went by the name of "Karl Filtsch" (which was his real name).

I think he was from Hungary, like Liszt.

Anyhow, the point is, Karl Filtsch was headed for the career of his life! he was an amazing pianist. In fact in some people's opinion, he nearly elipsed the master, if you see what i mean.

But then he promptly went and died of tuberculosis. Filtsch, i mean. Is it just me, or is it very likely that he caught this from Chopin, and it killed him?
